Project Management

As a Graduate in our project management teams, you’ll work on projects of all sizes from one-off developments to mega-programmes.

We cover everything from leading teams, planning works, tracking progress and business case delivery to bringing assets into use; for your development is the breadth of experience you will receive - from working as part of a large team to learn our methodologies, to managing your own project independently with accountability for delivery and generating income.

You will receive accredited training to develop your skills alongside on the job learning, such as;

• To support project management commissions.
• To facilitate the implementation of processes to manage time, cost and quality of the project.
• To produce project plans.
• To monitor project progress and other performance indicators, including preparation of progress reports.
• To track and document changes.
• To liaise with the project stakeholders.
• To coordinate meetings and draft minutes.

Cost Management (Quantity Surveying)  

As a Graduate in our cost management teams, you’ll work on some of the most iconic projects in the world for industry leaders, driving the commercial agenda to meet our client's expectations.

In addition to core cost management services our teams also provide strategic delivery and operational advice.  

You will receive leading, recognised training to become chartered with Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) plus wider training in behaviours to become a true leader.

Your career in cost management will create a foundation for success in the future, learning about the key commercial principles, procurement and buying strategies, commercial mechanisms, and contracting arrangements. You will learn how to intelligently engage with suppliers and deliver success for our clients, such as;

To assist in cost management commissions: cost estimates, bills of quantities, value engineering, tendering and evaluation, contract knowledge, change orders and final account close-out.

• To estimate and produce cost plans.
• To conduct cost assessments and valuations.
• To prepare cost reports.
• To liaise with the project stakeholders

Pre contract – Quantity surveying services

To work with Turner & Townsend QS team in conducting the tendering exercise with potential bidders and provided bid analysis and the recommendation of award to client for appointment consideration.

Scope of work included not limited to budget preparation, preparation of BOQ’s, and cost estimating during the design phase, and tender management for selection of EPC contractors, including preparation of the RFP’s and management of the EOI, PQ and tendering process. Candidate will involve in preparation of BOQs and cost plans for all packages.

Post contract - Site quantity surveying support

Worked together with site QS team, handle and control quantity surveying work, project progress report tracks, oversee the progress and performance of ongoing construction work activities at the yard. 

Review weekly field reports to alert Client areas of concern and support the teams in developing and implementing mitigation efforts to reflect accurate Field Progress (Earned Quantities and Earned Hours) driving the Project Master Schedule Progress.

Verify contractors’ quantity tracker and progress reports.

maintain and update the QS process for accurate Field data collection, performance measurements and progress validation and analysis for all related construction activities.

Verify the submitted progress assessments are in accordance to the project Rules of Credits (RoC) and support the projects Earned Value Analysis.

Review and development, issuance and evaluation of construction contractor’s change orders as required for their project tracks, aligning scope with budgeted hours.

Ensure all QS team activities are compliant with company specification and regulatory requirements.

• Act as Commission Manager, taking responsibility for end to end service delivery, often with respect to large or complex commissions or multiple commissions.
• To act as the key, day to day client interface, ensuring that client objectives are met through the delivery of a value added cost management service.
• Managing estimating and cost planning activities to include taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan.
• Ensuring the production of monthly post-contract cost reports and presenting them to the client.
• Leading value engineering and life cycle costing exercise.
• Motivate team members, and drive towards positive client outcomes and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Critically analyze, challenge and brainstorm project requirements and deliverables, in order to find creative solutions and alternatives on behalf of clients.
• To lead a cost management team, ensuring that the team members deliver on all accountabilities.
• To identify & act upon opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates and products and hence improve the service provided to clients.
• To take line management responsibility as required.

• Conduct inspection and approve materials submitted by the General Contractor are ensure accordance with the technical specifications.
• Conduct daily site walks to review progress, general quality of works and provide updates to the project team.
• Attend inspection of trenches, pits, voids and other services prior to closure, fabrication of CHW / ducting / sprinkler pipework and other related activities as per the inspection and test plan (ITP) and request for inspection and testing (RFIT).
• Attend site acceptance tests (RFIT).
• Assist with the review of engineering document: shop drawings, RFI, method statement, material approval, JSA.
• Attend RFI meetings and assist with response.
• Provide general advice to GC minor site issues on behalf of design consultant.
