Introducing the role
Zinc seeks a Chief of Party (CoP) for a US State Department (USG) funded program to help promote information integrity and independent media in Indonesia. The program will provide independent media and civil society organisations with grants, capacity building and training to help them produce and disseminate engaging, fact-based content. The COP will provide the program with strategic, financial, and ethical oversight, ensuring activities delivered achieve the desired impact within time and budget, while upholding Zinc Networkās and the GECās core values. They will also be tasked with forming and maintaining relationships with GEC and with local stakeholders implementing other relevant programming. This role will be based in Indonesia or London, UK.
The ideal candidate:
The COP will be responsible for providing overall management and direction to this program and for supervising all key personnel. They must be an experienced manager who has successfully managed a program of similar size and complexity. They must have demonstrated experience working with independent media, preferably on topics related to information integrity and media strengthening, preferably in Indonesia. We are looking for a natural leader who is curious, driven, and able to adapt and overcome challenges to deliver results in difficult operating environments. We value individuals who can live and breathe the subject matter, the strategy, and Zincās methodology, while learning to navigate complex multi-stakeholder environments and mobilize networks on the ground to deliver meaningful, measurable change.
What youāll be doing:
ā¢ Provide overall leadership, management, and technical direction for the program, serving as the primary liaison with the client on managerial, strategic, and technical matters, including responsibility for making key decisions and solving programmatic problems in a timely manner
ā¢ Professionally represent Zinc Network to the client, respective Indonesian government bodies, counterparts, local partners, and other program stakeholders
ā¢ Ensure that the work plan, MREL plan, and reporting efforts are aligned with award requirements, project objectives, and USG guidance
ā¢ Oversee all contractual and budgetary aspects of program management
ā¢ Monitor and, when needed, adapt activities to achieve results; ensure that activities are implemented effectively and in complementarity to other donor activities
ā¢ Ensure the program meets high standards for performance and integrity that comply with Zinc Networkās processes, policies, and procedures
Qualifications:
ā¢ Bachelorās or masterās degree in international development, organizational development, business, communications, or other field relevant to the programās scope of work
ā¢ Minimum seven (7) years of relevant, senior-level professional experience managing and implementing programs designed to strengthen information resilience and/or media, with a minimum of five (5) years of experience working in Indonesia or the broader Indo-Pacific
ā¢ Ideally experience working in a successful media outlet or similar type of organization
ā¢ Good technical grasp of market research, OSINT, digital analytics, content production and how to run a successful newsroom
ā¢ At least four (4) years of experience managing and supervising staff
ā¢ Demonstrated ability to work effectively with civil society, media, government officials, influencers, the private sector, donors, and other stakeholders
ā¢ Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
ā¢ Professional level of oral and written fluency in English and Indonesian
ā¢ Excellent communication skills and able to produce succinct, compelling documents and eye-catching presentations.
ā¢ Manage programs and report progress against a theory of change and log frame
