Job Description
Functional Responsibility:
The Senior Manager of Tax will be responsible for developing and implementing tax strategies to optimize the organization's tax efficiency while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. They will oversee all tax-related activities, including tax planning, compliance, litigations, and reporting. Collaborating with internal teams and external advisors, they will provide expert guidance on tax implications for business decisions, mergers and acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives.

Functional Duties:
Optimal Taxation Strategy:
- Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize the organization's tax liabilities and optimize tax efficiency.
- Investigate and develop strategies to optimize tax incentives and reduce the companyās tax liability.
Tax Analysis & Planning:
- Review and plan innovative tax plan methods to minimize the overall companyās tax liabilities and risk profile.
Procedures & Standards Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with country-specific procedures and financial reporting standards of the country's statutory requirements.
Tax Statutory Law:
- Stay informed about changes in tax laws and regulations, assessing their impact on the organization and recommending appropriate actions.
Corporate Taxation:
- Demonstrate the knowledge to apply optimal taxation strategy for the organization, and to perform all necessary tasks (tax filing, reporting, reconciliation, etc.), based on tax rules and regulations, that are specific to a corporation.
Tax Advisory:
- Provide expert tax advice and guidance to internal teams, including Finance, Legal, and Business Development, on the tax implications of business decisions and transactions.
Policy & Regulation Compliance:
- Monitor updates on tax laws and ensure compliance with the rules and regulations in terms of maintaining proper and accurate accounts for all business transactions, tax filing procedures, deadlines, etc.
- Manage tax litigations and inquiries from tax authorities, coordinating responses and resolutions as needed.
- Work with foreign affiliates to examine and research domestic legislation requirements, application of double taxation agreements, and review tax clauses in contracts.
- Perform analyses required for tax expense deductibility.
- Liaise with tax authorities on the investment allowance extension.
- Ensure that external tax filing and related reporting requirements are handled properly and deadlines are met.
- Review tax estimates to ensure minimum variances between actual tax and tax estimate.
- Review indirect tax returns against supporting documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with local tax regulations.
- Review indirect tax reconciliation every month.
Reporting Procedure & Standards:
- Develop and document systematic internal procedures, templates, reporting processes, etc. that adhere to national standards, to ensure timely submission of relevant reports/forms to the Inland Revenue Board (IRB).
Team Management:
- Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, providing direction, support, and professional development opportunities.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and tax authorities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure tax considerations are integrated into strategic planning and decision-making processes.
Tax Auditing:
- Prepare schedules and liaison with tax authorities and other relevant authorities for tax audit and appeal.
- Prepare internal memorandums, written correspondences/guidance, private letter rulings, and other documents for submission to tax authorities.
- Monitor document retention to ensure that all documents, receipts, relevant financial documents, and agreements are kept for tax audit and investigation by tax authorities or other relevant authorities.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors to develop and implement solutions to various corporate issues and transactions.
Tax Provision:
- Review deferred tax computation and tax provisions based on the latest financial statement.
Personal Tax:
- Review expatriate individual income tax returns and tax clearance for leaver cases.
Role Duties:
- Develop annual plans and budget developments for sub-departments to align with department-wide strategy including ensuring budget adherence to the approved budget.
- Lead SOP development and amendment to ensure all SOPs align with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Track operating progress and results against annual plan and KPIs to ensure targets are met; develop action plans as needed.
- Lead the identification of innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Working Experience:
Minimum working experience:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience at the managerial level (preferred with experiences in tax consulting firms).
- Previous experience in a managerial or supervisory role, overseeing teams and projects.
- English Language proficiency at an advanced level.
Education:
- A bachelor's/master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
- Strong technical knowledge of tax laws and regulations, including federal, state, and international tax principles.
- Proficiency in tax research and analysis, as well as experience with tax compliance software and financial systems.
Professional qualifications:
- Certified Tax Consultant Level B or C.
